Description
AutoCAD 2025 is the 2D drafting and 3D modelling program that architects, engineers, designers and contractors use to produce precise drawings and documentation. This release concentrates on knowing what happened in a drawing, on reusing repeated geometry as blocks, and on working faster with large files.
What is new in AutoCAD 2025
- Activity Insights records more kinds of drawing activity and shows the details in a new Activity Properties panel; activities of a recent drawing can be viewed from the Start tab without opening it.
- Drawings saved to supported cloud storage create version records that can be compared with earlier versions.
- Smart Blocks: Search and Convert (BCONVERT) highlights geometry that matches a selection and turns all or chosen instances into block references.
- Hatch no longer needs a closed boundary drawn in advance: a hatch can follow a circular, rectangular or polyline path.
- Five additional Esri basemaps, including satellite imagery and OpenStreetMap, are available when you set a drawing’s geographic location.
- Large, complex drawings open faster, and a Graphics Performance tab helps to find configuration problems.
What you do with AutoCAD every day
- Draw and edit 2D geometry with precise object snaps, constraints and dynamic input.
- Model solids, surfaces and meshes in 3D and create views and sections from the model.
- Annotate with dimensions, multileaders, tables and annotative scales; publish sheets to PDF and DWF.
- Attach PDF, DWG and image references and work with point clouds and geographic data.
- Automate routine work with AutoLISP, scripts, dynamic blocks and the Sheet Set Manager.
AutoCAD 2025 also gives access to the specialised toolsets for architecture, mechanical and electrical design, MEP, mapping, plant design and raster work, so one product covers most technical drawing tasks in an office.
Drawings are saved in the DWG 2018 format, which AutoCAD has used since the 2018 release, so files from 2025 open in older AutoCAD-based programs back to 2018 without conversion.
