Autodesk AutoCAD Mechanical 2025

AutoCAD Mechanical is AutoCAD with a toolset for 2D mechanical drafting. It replaces manual drawing of standard parts and manual tables with libraries, generators and associative annotations. Version 2025 is built on AutoCAD 2025 and includes all of its drafting tools.

• Hatch along a path without a closed boundary, plus additional Esri basemaps for geolocated drawings.

What the Mechanical toolset adds

• Libraries of standard parts and features — bolts, nuts, washers, bearings, holes — to ISO, ANSI, DIN, JIS and other standards.
• Power dimensioning and dimension editing that respects the drawing standard.
• Associative balloons, parts lists and bills of materials.
• GD&T, surface texture and welding symbols.
• Generators and calculators for shafts, springs, chains and belts.
• Hide situations and structured mechanical layers for clean assembly drawings.

It is the toolset for machine designers and production engineers whose documentation is still mostly 2D.

Drawings are saved in the DWG 2018 format, which AutoCAD has used since the 2018 release, so files from 2025 open in older AutoCAD-based programs back to 2018 without conversion.
