Autodesk AutoCAD MEP 2025

AutoCAD MEP is AutoCAD with a toolset for mechanical, electrical and plumbing design in buildings. Ducts, pipes, conduits and cable trays are intelligent objects connected into systems, so plans, sections and schedules can be produced from one model. Version 2025 is built on AutoCAD 2025 and includes all of its drafting tools.

Built on the AutoCAD 2025 platform

• Activity Insights shows who did what in a drawing and allows version comparison for files kept in cloud storage.
• Smart Blocks: Search and Convert turns repeated geometry into block references.
• Hatch along a path without a closed boundary, plus additional Esri basemaps for geolocated drawings.
• Faster opening of large drawings and a Graphics Performance diagnostics tab.

What the MEP toolset adds

• HVAC duct and piping systems with fittings, routing preferences and connection checks.
• Plumbing lines and fixtures for water supply and drainage.
• Electrical devices, panels, circuits, conduit and cable tray.
• Spaces and zones taken from architectural drawings for engineering calculations.
• Sections, elevations and schedules generated from the MEP model.
• Interference detection between building services and the architecture.

It is meant for building services engineers and designers who document HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems in DWG.

Drawings are saved in the DWG 2018 format, which AutoCAD has used since the 2018 release, so files from 2025 open in older AutoCAD-based programs back to 2018 without conversion.
